The Campsite: Tractors and Cream

Owners Vicky and Bryan have created Tractors & Cream with thoughtfulness, a love of nature and appreciation for the little quirks that make glamping easy and fun.

Geodomes

The Geodomes are beautifully decorated – one even has a slide! Each has a double bed and set of bunk beds for a family of 4, with additional sleeping available on request for larger families.

Wood burning stove and campfires

For chillier evenings, there’s a wood burning stove in the Geodome so you can relax on the sofa and enjoy the views from the large window whilst warming by the fire. For summer evenings, head to the communal campfire and toast marshmallows whilst watching the stars.

Space in nature

With a limited number of Geodomes, the site doesn’t feel crowded. Instead, children can meet new friends and run wild across the 6 acre site; exploring the playgrounds, the woodland trail, the fairy trail and the meadows. There’s a lawn for ball games too.

The Somerset Levels

Tractors and Cream is close to the town of Langport, which is one of my favourite places on the Somerset Levels.

Biking

You can hire bikes from Parrett Trail Bikes and follow the recommended cycle routes. The landscape is completely flat, so it’s great for cycling with families!

Wild Swimming, Somerset

Walk #28 in my book, Wild Swimming Walks Bristol and Bath, shares an easy and fun walk from Langport, following the River Parrett. Here, you can swim, SUP, packraft, or kayak from any of the river pontoons, which are in place from spring to autumn.

Eating

Both The Bridge Canteen and the Kitchen at the Wharf are great for food and/or cakes! Or bring a picnic to eat on the riverside lawns in the Cocklemoor area of town.

Cider

Close by are two great cider barns which I’d highly recommend; Burrow Hill Cider and Jim’s Cider Shack. Taste cider (or apple juice) whilst sitting in the shade of the apple trees – dreamy.

A fantastic glamping site in Somerset – perfect for families. My youngest son thought it was the best place he’s ever stayed!
