Swim, sauna & stories by the fire
£30.00 – £40.00
Join me for a magical evening of sunset swimming, sauna and campfire storytelling.
Date: 7th November
Time: 3.00pm – 6.00pm
Location: Chew Valley, BS40
Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Chew Valley is a hidden waterfall with a deep, refreshing plunge pool. The water is clean, crisp and inviting. Surrounding the waterfall are meadows filled with wildflowers, butterflies and the sound of grasshoppers in summer. As autumn takes hold, the leaves on the trees turn amber, tawny owls hoot across the starry skies and the air carries a calming kind of magic. Dreamy.
Swim, sauna & campfire stories
Join us here for a special evening of waterfall dips and warming sauna sessions. As the sun sets, we’ll gather around the campfire to enjoy the early evening air and share stories of swimming in wild places. I’ll read a few favourite passages from my new book, Wild Swimming Walks: Bristol and Bath before we say a fond farewell.
This is the perfect afternoon/evening for swimmers, dippers, plungers, readers, story-lovers, sun-worshippers and anyone else that fancies something a little bit special before winter sets in…
The Evening
We’ll meet at a pre-set location and take a gentle 10 minute walk to the waterfall. The afternoon will begin at a relaxed pace, with time to swim in the waterfall, warm up in the wood-fired sauna and unwind in the beautiful meadows.
As the sun goes down, we’ll gather around the campfire for tea, stories and hearty conversation. At the end of the evening, we’ll head back up the path in the dark under the stars.
What to Bring:
- Swimmers and a towel (if you fancy a dip)
- A blanket or something comfy to sit on
- Warm layers for after the swim
- Practical shoes for walking – the path to the waterfall is uneven
- A headtorch or light for the return walk
Please note, there are uneven steps and rocky ground to reach the waterfall. Non-slip shoes and a head torch are recommended.
Spaces are limited. Booking essential.
I’ll be happy to sign any books on the day.
All books purchased with your event ticket will be ready to collect when you arrive 🙂
